  • Total Testosterone

This measures the full amount of testosterone in your bloodstream, including both the bound and free forms. Testosterone is essential for building muscle, maintaining bone strength, supporting mood and energy, and contributing to sexual health and libido.

  • Free Testosterone

Free testosterone is the biologically active form of testosterone that your body can use immediately. Unlike bound testosterone, it is not attached to proteins like SHBG or albumin. Measuring this helps identify symptoms like low energy or reduced sexual function.

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)

SHBG is a protein produced by the liver that binds tightly to Testosterone, limiting the amount available to the body. High SHBG can reduce free Testosterone levels, even when Total Testosterone is within range.

  • Albumin

Albumin is another protein that binds to testosterone, though more loosely than SHBG. It plays a role in calculating bioavailable testosterone, which includes both free and loosely bound testosterone.
