“I really liked the emphasis on prevention, which you don’t see in a normal doctor’s office.”

Am I in the right place?

All four include a 45-minute 1:1 consultation with a hormone specialist. What differs is not the scope, but the focus of that consultation.

Why take this test?

How to plan your test

With female hormones, timing decides how much the result can tell you.

This test is not suitable if you currently use the pill, a vaginal ring, patch, implant or three-monthly injection. These methods suppress your body's own hormone production, which leaves the values almost impossible to interpret.

A hormonal IUD is different: it acts mainly locally, and ovulation usually still takes place. The hormone values can be interpreted, but the bleed that determines your cycle day is often missing. Please tell us when you book.

After stopping, at least two natural cycles should have passed. Please do not stop anything without speaking to a doctor first.

How your hormone test works

How it works image

Step 1

Book your hormone test

Book an appointment online at one of our centrally located partner labs, across Switzerland and without a referral.

Step 2

Visit the partner lab

The blood draw takes around 10 minutes. No separate doctor's appointment needed.

Step 3

Specialist hormone consultation

45 minutes 1:1 by video with a specialist in gynaecology who focuses on female hormones and reproductive medicine. You leave the consultation with an interpretation and concrete next steps, not with a lab printout.

Step 4

Your results, always medically interpreted

Only after the consultation are your results released in the care App, reviewed by our medical team, with an explanation of every biomarker and a written report to keep and to share. So you never receive raw numbers before someone has put them in context for you.

The 10 biomarkers we measure

Together, these ten values give the picture of your hormone status. On its own, none of them says enough.

Cycle Health

10

  • Estradiol (Early Follicular)

The principal female sex hormone. It drives the build-up of the uterine lining, triggers ovulation via the LH surge, and acts on bone and blood vessels.

  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Regulates the growth of the ovarian follicles and the production of sex hormones.

  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Triggers ovulation, regulates androgen production in the ovary and maintains the corpus luteum. Its ratio to FSH provides an additional clue.

  • Prolactin

A hormone of the pituitary gland. Elevated levels can suppress ovulation and cause cycle disturbances or absent periods.

  • TSH

The control hormone of the thyroid. Influences cycle, energy, weight and mood.

  • DHEA-S

An androgen precursor from the adrenal gland. Shows whether elevated androgens originate in the adrenal glands rather than the ovaries. Reference ranges depend strongly on age.

  • Total Testosterone

The principal androgen in women. Acts on muscle, bone, skin, hair growth and libido.

  • Free Testosterone

The freely active portion of testosterone, calculated from total testosterone, SHBG and albumin. More informative than the total value alone.

  • SHBG

The transport protein for sex hormones. It determines how much testosterone and oestradiol is freely active. Low levels are regarded as a sign of insulin resistance.

  • Albumin

The second transport protein. Needed to calculate free, active testosterone correctly.

Specialist hormone advice

Female hormones are a discipline in their own right. Gynaecology covers a broad spectrum, from preventive care through pregnancy and birth to surgery. Gynaecological endocrinology is the narrow field within it, and comparatively few practitioners pursue it in depth.

This is precisely where our gynaecologists at care concentrate. They work with female hormones every day and train in the field on an ongoing basis, across cycle health, fertility, perimenopause and PMOS.
